Maggie, her partner, and her sister traveled to Puerto Aventuras, part of the Riviera Maya are near Cancun, Feb 15-19, 2006.
They stayed at the Sunscape Puerto Aventuras All-Inclusive, in 2 standard oceanview rooms.
The trip was GREAT. The ride from Cancun Airport was about 45 minutes. We had oceanview rooms with balcony, but the lagoonview rooms were also nice. There were 2 pools - the one on the beach side was for adults and kids, and the one on the other side wasn't by the beach, but it was for adults only and was quieter.
The staff was nice and the service was good. The only complaint I have is about the temperature of the food on the buffets - it was always cold. There are other restaurants to eat at, but they don't take reservations and the wait for a table could run about an hour, so if you're really hungry, the buffet is where you have to go. They had theme evenings, which we liked and an outdoor grill by the pool where they served burgers an snacks all day.
There was a nice spa - massages were about $120.00, and a health club.
We took a great trip to Isla Mujeres, a small island off Cancun. You can swim with the dolphins or rent bikes and visit the turtle farm. They will also rent you a golf cart to get around the island. I took Dramamine before the boat ride, and I'm glad I did. We left in the morning and didn't get back until evening!
There were no problems from hurricane Wilma, just minor electricity outages here and there which is normal for the Caribbean.
We really enjoyed ourselves.
