I would say the resort was 3Star and the bathroom was 1-2Star. There was a water shortage on the island (not the resort’s fault) so we had no water around dinnertime. The shower broke and the knob was broken (resort’s fault). I said to them that they have such a beautiful prime location, why don’t they update/upgrade/maintain the rooms? The room had a typical Caribbean tile floor with green wicker furniture. The T.V. was not good, but we didn’t spend much time in the rooms (we got 2 connecting rooms which they confirmed a few days in advance which was very nice of them).
The Alexander Parish, Ltd. Transfer company was very good. It was a ½½ hr ride from the airport. We rented a small boat while we were there and went to a Reggae Party at Shirley Heights. The view from Shirley Heights was magnificent, but the party wasn’t so hot.
The gym was mediocre but we used it. They had weights for my husband. There were no activities for our teens so they looked at it as a vacation for ‘relaxation’ rather than meeting people. One thing that was fantastic was the shell collecting. We always collect shells on vacation and this was the best! I don’t know if it had anything to do with the volcano eruption on Monserrat while we were in Antigua, but there were tons and tons of shells washing up on the beach.
The Food was good enough. Italian was very good. The Indian restaurant was too spicy for us. There were a lot of Europeans there – British & Italian. There were 3 or 4 weddings going on at the resort while we were there.
I would go back. It was a very beautiful location. Oh, and I was told that Pineapple Beach, on the Atlantic side of the island, is owned by Sandals but nobody knows it, and they have re-done the whole thing. That might be worth looking into also.
